A bit about Tactical Modular Systems (TMS)

Where is it?
Tactical Modular Systems is located at Kanwal on the corner of Pearce and Hopetown Road at the 1st Kanwal Scout Hall

How to Contact the club
Interested people and groups can come and join in at training sessions Thursday nights 7 – 9pm and Saturday mornings from 8.30 -10am. Some other martial art training may be required as training is at a black belt curriculum standard, however the principles and concepts of this system can be easily understood by the beginner as well as the advanced. Please drop in and inquire.

What does the Club offer?
TMS offers a full black belt curriculum in CSSD/SC Modern Combat Arnis which includes Instructor level qualifications in CSSD/SC Mudular Knife Systems, as well as Instructor qualifications in CSSD/CS Modular Gunting (Lapu Lapu Corto).

TMS offer Seminars and training courses in Modular knife, Modular Gunting, Bolo (long Knife) and blunt and edged weapons training.
TMS is easily adapted to other martial arts styles
TMS teaches the realities of combat, both armed and unarmed
Dedicated and enthusiastic team of instructors with over 3 years learning TMS and lead by Stephen and Jeff Dougherty who have over 30 year martial arts experience combined.

What are the benefits of TMS
TMS combines empty hand, stick, blunt and edged weapon understanding by teaching gross motor skill drills which allow the student to build upon basic skills by utilizing muscle memory and understanding of our open and closed philosophy and use realistic training methods and techniques which have been proven over many years. Learn self defense, Discipline and respect. TMS uses concepts and techniques developed by Grand Master at Arnis Bram Frank (over 40 years experience).

In TMS 3 years

When and why did you start martial arts?
First started Hapkido 8 years ago for fitness

Who have you trained under and who do you train under now?
Hapkido - Tupuna Moekaa (Tup for short) (senior rank in Hapkido)
TMS - Steve and Jeff Dougherty

Do you still train regularly and how much?
Yes 2 times a week

How do you stay fit?
I do a MMA class once a week.

What are your favourite techniques in Martial arts?
Stick work, mainly Arnis.

Have you had any major injuries that have prevented you from training?
No I haven’t, touch wood.

Why do you think martial arts are important for personal development?
Umm, it's important for me for the social aspect, promotion of health and fitness and definitely confidence.

What goal do you have for the future?
To keep it up and just keep going.

What advice would you give someone that is just starting out in TMS?
Come along and enjoy it. Need to enjoy what you’re doing
