broke my ulna on Saturday night. was advised that it is a clean break and will heal. I got caught out with a kick while my arm was against my body, with no where to go the force must have been directly absorbed. I did it 2nd round of a three round match of which I completed narrowly losing 12-9.

Has anyone got any advice regarding this experience. I have a half cast till Monday when I go for a followup and fullcast.

That is exactly what Kelly broke (I think around this time last year) although hers was more of a spiral from twisting the arm (no, I didn't do it). Kelly also had a half cast straight away followed by a full cast and depending on where your actual break is I'd suggest being prepared for something that goes from your wrist to above your elbow.

Kelly was in her cast for about 6 weeks from memory and once it was removed there was a bit of calcium build up and still some pain around the break but it slowly went away. You will probably lose a bit of strength in your arm from lack of use so you might want to consider ways of slowly getting your strength back (both muscle and bone) once the cast is off. One thing that Ron suggested for Kelly was fan which helps to strengthen the wrist...

I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune but I have to say I am impressed you went on to fight another round after it happened. Good luck!
Now slightly more bruised than before.

Sorry to hear it Matt.

At least you have the xmas break to recover before the tournament season starts again in Feb.

Injuries suck. Depending on your outlook on medicine, acupuncture could be a good idea. Any kind of scar tissue stops the flow of qi in one way or another, so early acupuncture to treat the injured area can help the healing process and reduce the risk of lingering problems later on.

A turn for the worse I had to have surgery with a plate inserted . Any way as long as I will be back then it is all good.
