Saturday April 17th saw Chris Pellew and Scott Lindsay make their MMA debut at TUFFA 4 at Panthers Newcastle New South Wales - both boys were representing Zen Bu Kan Kempo and have been sharing their training between ZBK (Under Kyoshi Rob Jamieson) and Magnus MMA (under Noah Magnus) - sadly both boys recorded losses but they put on a great show and earned a lot of respect from fighters and spectators - Congrats to Trevor Shepherd for his victory over Chris - the two former friends and training partners put on an excellent show and fought with honour and pride - Thanks to TUFFA for putting on a great night!

That's right Matthew - this seems to be something that is forgotten these days during competition - I cannot take anything away from any of the fighters from that night - they have put in the effort sacrificed a lot and stepped up - winning the trophy is just the icing on the cake - too much emphasis is placed on 'winning' and not on the spirit of competition - don't get me wrong I would have loved to see my son (Chris) win but the display of heart and sportsmanship shown by all fighters on the night far outweighs any trophy - they all did the sport proud!

It certainly does take a high level of commitment and mental strength to get to that stage - and hoping in the rings takes a lot of guts. You're both right, it's not about the winning. I hope they both also had great fun doing it.
Now slightly more bruised than before.

MMA looks brutal sometimes - I don't think I could step in the ring like that.

Well done to the guys!
