Okay, it had to be done.

What's everyone's favorite Martial Arts movie. It can as corny as you like =)

Mine, is Bloodsport.

I watched the Karate Kid a few weeks ago, and I've gotta say that Daniel San is an annoying little pr**k. ;-) Still a good movie though.

I just finished watching that trilogy, it is a good one...

I'm going to have to go with something a little more obscure... "Dragon Tiger Gate". From memory it has some really impressive kicking...

Now slightly more bruised than before.

While we're on Jet Li movies "Unleashed" is not bad at all..... interestingly when I saw it in HMV in Japan it was actually titled Danny the Dog.... hmmm

I'll have to try and find some of these at the local DVD shop. I'm sure i've seen a few of them but can't remember.

I have seen quite a few TERRIBLE martial arts movies :)

A movie DEFINITELY worth investing in is "The Peaceful Warrior" although not about martial arts its about martial arts. This movie can change the way you look at life. Loved it.

Any Bruce Lee movie is good. A favourite would be Way of the Dragon, any movie in which Chuck Norris takes a beating is enjoyable.

With Japanese martial arts, the Seven Samurai, one of the greatest movies ever, and The Yakuza, a great movie with plenty of sword work and some shooting too.

I love Kickboxer, Bloodsport, Ong Bak, Enter the Dragon, Game of Death, and who can't go past Karate Kid (classic). Not a big fan of high flying movies with the actors are always on strings, but I did enjoy Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. Oh yeah forgot another one, Legedn of Drunken Master starring Jackie Chan is awesome, the original one.

Is it too late to offer Best of the Best and the Karate Kid? :) People often write them off as just cheesy 80s martial arts flicks but I think they express everything important about martial arts, certainly what inspires me about them. Sidekicks, with Jonathan Brandis and Chuck Norris, is another great film for that :)

Kiss of the Dragon was great, Ong Bak was mind blowing, thought Crouching Tiger was pretty good even though more artsy than I usually like. Fist of Legend was pretty awesome back in the day.

Michael: Unleashed is the name the movie was released with in Australia, the US title is Danny the Dog. Happens from time to time that they have different titles for different regions. And yeah not a bad movie at all, wasn't expecting much.

Ip Man had a couple of good fight scenes, and Foot Fist Way is hilarious.

Can anyone recommend any "cheesy" movies like No Retreat No Surrender? I'll accept 3 Ninjas-esque movies but that's a touch too cutesy for my taste, I just wanna see more movies where the bad guy isn't raping and pillaging and the hero doesn't kill everyone they fight :P

Oh, The Prodigal Son has to be on m list for favourite movie :) Dark film in parts but for the most part is reasonably fun and light hearted, has fantastic action, and the baddie isn't evil, just on different sides to the goodie and doesn't get killed at the end :P

One I watched on the weekend is "knights of bloodsteel" - It's actually fantasy and not a martial arts movie at all although the elf chick does bust out a few impressive kicks and throws occasionally. It is very similar to Hercules tv series style of action but it was fun all the same...

Looks akin to the likes of Eragon, which is no bad thing in my opinion. Thanks for the suggestion, will keep an eye out for it.

Mine would still be the old Bruce Lee movies only because I watched them as a teenager when I first got into Martial Arts and they inspired me.
The black and white samurai ones are also entertaining.

I just watched the trailer for Ninja Assassin. It's quite possible the worlds most cheesy clichéd name for a movie but it looks like it could be really good... Looking forward to it now.

I watched a review for Ninja Assassin @ http://www.totallyradshow.com. They felt that there was a lot of gore and didn't consider is a true Martial Arts film in terms of beautiful choreographed fights scenes. But they said it was a very fun movie to watch.
