Training over xmas

Does your dojo close over xmas? Ours closes for about 3 weeks.

Do you take the time off as a break, or do you keep training in some way over the xmas break?

I'm *planning* to keep training in some way - mainly jogging and fitness stuff at home (pushups, situps, squat kicks) and slow kicking/kicking practise, but I know that it's much harder to motivate myself over the silly season :)

Hapkido shuts down for a while over Christmas. I can't remember the exact dates but Niagara Park closes down for a few weeks while Tuggerah is only shut for a little while. It has always frustrated me a little as usually that time of year is when I have the most time available for training.

I'll definitely be trying to keep active over the break and train as much as possible. Not sure what that will involve though.... Maybe we could organise a bit of sparring at some stage.
Now slightly more bruised than before.

I'm in the same boat as you Michael, I've been training pretty hard the past couple of months it'd be nice to take some time off but I'll hopefully get some fitness type stuff in.

I still have to work over the break which might give me some extra time to keep the fitness up.

Our club closes for about four weeks, and I've been out of action for the past month or so with an ankle injury so it's been a bit frustrating. I did manage to do my AHA Hapkido grading on Tuesday though, passed to 4th gup (blue belt). :)

Found out today that one of the Tesshi's wants to do some training over xmas - just with a select group, and he's invited me. Mainly cardio/fitness work as he's planning to get right into tournaments next year.

If I can find the time to do it, it'll be great to do some of that conditioning work over the xmas break.

Definitely would be keen - do you have a home dojo in your new place yet? :)

I'm heading for a jog at Adcock Park tomorrow morning, maybe a little earlier than usual before it gets too hot. Should be there around 6:45am I guess. If you're keen, see you there!

Both clubs I go to are closed over Christmas (There was a party at the one tonight but I couldn't make it coz I was unwell :() so what I plan to do mostly is do a thorough warmup covering everywhere I remember from each class at least once or twice a day, and reading up on karate stuff.

I was just getting ready to go to taekwondo and hapkido tonight but then I realised the last Monday night class for hapkido was last week... Oh well looks like it's just taekwondo tonight.

Tactical Zen closes over christmas, but we train for the rest of the year.
I think today's society is somewhat problematic in regards to dedication. I find hardly anyone turns up to training when its school holidays (these are adult students I am talking about), public holidays, too hot, too cold, days ending in the letter "y".. Does anyone else find this?

I usually offer to keep the school open over the christmas break if anyone wants to keep training, but I am lucky to get them back by the start of February.
with respect,

I never made it back to the one karate place after Christmas, I'm not sure why. I've taken up some new stuff though instead so it kinda balances out. That is pretty shameful though. I wish my class had a dedicated dojo that could be left open for whenever people wanted to go there to train. I'd be there a lot more often than I am now
